Day 36: Please Be Naked - The 1975

Song: Please Be Naked
Artist: The 1975

I still feel lethargic and exhausted. My theory about getting sick seems to be on the money. I have no energy to do anything and this headache will not go away.

The 1975 is an Indie Electropop-rock group based out of Manchester. Formed in 2002 their popularity began to rise in 2012- 2013, however,  it wasn't until the release of their second album, in 2016, that they seemed to have reached new levels of notoriety.

"Please Be Naked" is entirely instrumental and rather new age. The faint sounds of a street and the soft sounds of rustling, perhaps even the padding of footsteps rise in sound as a synth tone crescendos effectively overpowering the background noise. It's not quite eerie but it is also not comforting. I liken it to the the sound you would hear in a movie when the ghost of a loved one appears. Ethereal, I suppose would be the best word for the job. The ghost noise drops off and a staunch piano begins it's melody, the synth rejoining crescendoing magnificently. Every time I hear this melody of the piano I think about the score of Jurassic Park. There is a similarity between the two and they both give that majestic vibe. The song is constantly building. Progressing with more and more musical and synth elements with each measure. Each element fighting for dominance and growing in both volume and strength. Mentally I see nature, butterflies emerging from a cocoon, clouds rolling through the sky, wildflowers billowing in the breeze and their petals flying away into the clear sky. It's overwhelming, beautiful, and haunting. The sounds of life in the background ground us in reality while experiencing this whimsical world the mystical melody has created.
