After the year that was this week it's finally Friday. The plus side is this has been an absolutely fantastic week in terms of surprise music releases. I was still buzzing from the release of "Scenery" a few days ago when I woke up and saw that ONE OK ROCK dropped a track in the middle of the night. A track that I needed to hear today. 

A sweeping synth keyboard crescendos into a choral vocal over the gentle hum of the bass. Taka's vocal takes the reigns kicking us into the upbeat sounds of the guitar and drums. The prominent pulse of the drums are full of life creating a rich and vibrant energy. The buildup is steady until the music erupts into a heady world of color. Visually I picture those color runs, full of powered paints leaving flumes of color in their wake. The power of Taka's vocals boldly burst forward full of youthful promise and joy. I am absolutely struck by how catchy the chorus is, bombastically proclaiming freedom. Overall the song fills me with hope for tomorrow as I live my life in the moment instead of in fear.

I've come to discover that ONE OK ROCK has a propensity for lyrics that uplift and encourage the necessity of living our best life. It's easy to fall into a routine and rut; making excuses as to why we can't do something.  It is a lot harder, however, to pull ourselves out to find our fulfillment. As much as I am not a fan of YOLO culture the sentiment itself is still important, we do only live once.

"Don't be afraid to dive

This verse was a punch in the gut today. I've spent so much of my life afraid of taking the metaphorical plunge.

I have been slowly but surely finding my way back to all of the things I was once passionate about. I refuse to waste any more nights to fear. I love the concept of living for today and not worrying about what tomorrow will bring.
